Abstract

A rich, premixed sooting acetylene/air flame was supported on a sintered bronze, water cooled, premixed, porous-plug burner. Three lasers were used to measure soot extinction. The observed long-wavelength infrared/visible extinction ratio in the acetylene flame agrees with the value observed by Roessler and Faxvog for cooled acetylene smoke
