Abstract

The resonance scattering of light by molecules adsorbed on metallic surfaces is discussed. The scattering reveals an enhancement and a level splitting whose characteristics are sensitive to the form of the surface plasmon dispersion relation. Different forms of this dispersion relation are considered and their implications for the spectral features of the scattered light are explored.
