Abstract

Due to the diffusion motion of gas atoms, the object contour after frequency conversion becomes blurred, and the edge information of the image is always lost. Here, with assisted spiral phase contrast (SPC) imaging, we propose a scheme to preserve object edge information and enhance image recognition via four-wave mixing (FWM) process. The experimental results show that the algorithm can improve the structural similarity (SSIM) of object contour and the whole similarity of image. This work may contribute to the improvement of image quality via frequency conversion in atomic ensembles, and provides a possible implementation in all-optical image processing.
