Abstract

AbstractInvited for this month's cover is the group of Prof. James Dumesic at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. The image shows a process for the conversion of xylose, obtained from the hemicellulose fraction of lignocellulosic biomass, to furfural at high yields (>90%) using a biomass derived solvent, γ‐valerolactone, at high temperature (e.g., 498 K).
