Abstract

A simple and robust method to produce a flat-top band-rejection filter with a strongly enhanced rejection depth is proposed and first demonstrated in experiment, which is realized based on the utilization of two consecutively cascaded helical long-period fiber gratings and work in the reflective direction. As a result of the proposed method, a flat-top filter with a rejection depth larger than 34 dB and a bandwidth of ~15 nm at 2 dB has been successfully obtained.
