Abstract

Many modern continuous system simulation tools provide good facilities for the efficient implementation of simulation models and for interactive experimentation using a simulation model. In most cases, however, the environment lacks some important features which can greatly assist the user in tackling efficiently some of the broader issues which arise in the model development process, such as model testing and validation. This paper reviews the problems which arise in the validation of dynamic system models and discusses the implications in terms of the type of computing environment within which model development can be carried out efficiently.
