Abstract

We report that SiC nanowires with enhanced dielectric and electromagnetic wave absorbing properties were prepared by the surface decoration of Au nanoparticles. The Au nanoparticles with a size of 5–10 nm were decorated via the simple and fast magnetic sputtering, which improved the conductance loss and polarization loss of SiC nanowires. By optimizing the sputtering time, the dielectric and electromagnetic wave absorbing properties were significantly enhanced. Au-decorated SiC nanowires show a minimum reflection loss of −50.6 dB and an effective absorption (RL<−10 dB) bandwidth of 7.2 GHz at the sputtering time of 30 s and filling ratio of 10 wt%.
