Abstract

In the present paper, the sensitized charge transfer efficiency of an excited oxacarbocyanine dye absorbed on the surface of a molecular crystal of p-chloranil is measured. It depends on the competing energy transfer to a metal layer due to life time shortening of the excited state. The charge transfer rate constant for this system can be calculated to be kCT = (4 ± 2) × 108 s−1.
