Abstract

This study investigated the creep stability enhancement of Inconel 718 by induction heating during the laser-directed energy deposition. The induction heating during the deposition fully dissolved the Laves phase, mitigated Nb segregation, and formed directionally solidified columnar grains. Based on the results of nanoindentation creep testing, the deposit utilizing induction heating exhibited high creep stability.
