Abstract

The NIR efficiency was greatly enhanced both in ultra-low and high Bi-doped borate glasses with the addition of a little carbon. By further adjusting the Bi-doping concentration, it is found that the optimal Bi2O3 doping concentration is 0.06 mol% under the carbon reduction (0.1 mol%). Our results indicate that the Bi-doped glass with very low doping concentration can achieve stronger broadband NIR emission than that with high doping concentration under the effect of reducing agent.
