Abstract
Yb–Bi ions co-doped phosphate glasses with different Lu2O3 concentrations were prepared. The effects of Lu3+ addition on broadband emission intensity, peak wavelength shift and measured fluorescence lifetime were investigated. The maximum emission intensity is about 7.3 times higher than that of no Lu2O3 doped glasses. The peak wavelength shows obvious blue-shift. The lifetimes near the peak wavelengths of phosphate glasses with Lu2O3 addition tend to increase. The results indicate Lu2O3 can be introduced into the Yb–Bi ions co-doped phosphate glass matrix to enhance emission intensity, change the peak wavelength, and reinforce the energy transfer process for its dispersant effect.
