Abstract

Smooth speed regulation is important for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives. However, there exist aperiodic and periodic disturbances in the speed loop, causing speed fluctuations. To address the problem, an active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) is combined with quasi-resonant controllers (QRCs) for the PMSM speed loop. The QRCs are embedded in the control law of the ADRC and operate in parallel with the extended state observer (ESO). The QRCs are designed to compensate for the periodic disturbance, while the ESO is designed to estimate and compensate for the aperiodic disturbance. The stability and antidisturbance capability of the studied scheme are analyzed systematically, which can guide the tuning of control parameters. Compared with the existing ADRC-based schemes, the proposed approach is designed to attenuate aperiodic and periodic speed fluctuations simultaneously. Finally, the effectiveness of the studied approach is validated on a 2.2-kW PMSM drive platform.
