METHODS: This study was conducted in 40 normal and 40 Type 2 Diabetics, using short term Heart Rate variability test. RESULTS: The change in HRV values between the two postures were significantly reduced in Diabetics. ΔSDNN; Δ RMSSD, ΔNN50; ΔpNN50; Δ LF; Δ HF; Δ LF/HF (p<0.05) compared to healthy controls. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrates the presence of subclinical cardiac autonomic dysfunction in asymptomatic diabetics. More prospective studies on a large scale are required to validate this inference.
