Abstract

A supercontinuum is turn out when a group of non-linear processes act together upon a pump beam in order to cause a specific spectral broadening of original beam. The result is smooth spectral continuum (approx.60nm of broadening as supercontinuum). This paper aims to numerically simulate the formation of a supercontinuum in the near-ultraviolet (around 200 – 400 nm) region of the electromagnetic spectrum. An analysis of how changes in the variables and the fiber parameters affected the super- continua that were generated was undertaken. Some of the novel applications of supercontinuum and its future scopes are also discussed
