Abstract

Bounds for the torsional rigidity of cylindrically anisotropic bars with one plane of elastic symmetry perpendicular to the axis of bar are derived making of use the two minimum theorems of elasticity. All results of the paper are based on the theory of uniform torsion which was developed by Saint-Venant and Prandtl. Illustrative example shows that the one term approximation leads to relative close bounds.
