Abstract

A better knowledge of the human body heat loses mechanisms is important for both diminishing the number of deaths during the surgical procedures of the patients under effect of full anaesthesiaand increasing the efficiency of the Heating, Ve ntilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. For these studies itis necessary to manufacture a human body mannequin having its surface temperaturemaintained on avalue close to the real human body temperature. A number of PTC (Positive Temperature Coef ficient) thermistors placed on the entire external surface of the mannequin can be used for this purpose. This paperpresentsa study of the transient heating regime and the stability of the maintained temperatur e, performed on these devices.
