Abstract

Army Medical University has taken the mission of medical aiding to African for three years, which requires high needs for the aiding doctors, especially the communication abilities of listening and spoken English. Doctors' English training methods and contents are monotony, training period is short and inefficient in the past. For the aiding doctors, whose English abilities are disturbed by local African accents, may lead to the failure of communication. For the difficulties above, under the new training strate-gies, the communicative and task-based teaching methods through needs analysis theory can be applied for training doctors. Through learning African English accents, doctors take accent English exercises; situation teaching, and case analysis discussion could be taken, so that English communication practices and cross-cultural exchanges can be engaged. Through those ways, the training for aiding African doctors would be effectiveness and diversified, which can also improve doctors' aiding work.
