Abstract

Abstract The globalization of English has taken the language to many parts of the world. Rather than being a language owned and used mainly by speech communities that claim it as their mother tongue, it is increasingly being used as a language for international and intercultural communication. The notion of “English as an International Language” is a proactive response to this situation and is reconceptualizing English in relevant theoretical and practical domains.
