Abstract

This paper addresses the question of how ordinary English Christians may be helped to develop a Christian "conscientization" about their own culture without leaving the boundary of it. An existing educational course which uses an imaginative method of theological reflection is offered as one way of answering the question. The method of theological reflection is explained, tested in pilot study and theoretically explored. The method is then modified and incorporated into the development of a short adult theological education course which, it is proposed, will be further researched. This work is part of the author's wider research and writing on Englishness and the gospel.
