Abstract
Improving retention rates amongst engineering students and enhancing the provision of mathematics support for all students within the University are two of the main aims of the Mathematics Learning Support Centre (MLSC; http://mlsc.lboro.ac.uk). This paper will describe some recent strategies adopted to support first year engineering students. It will also comment upon the success of these strategies.
