Abstract

Engineered polymeric disulfide nanosheet cathode was synthesized through an interfacial polymerization using graphene oxide as shape-directing agent for lithium-sulfur battery. The polymeric disulfide cathode presents a high Li electroactivity and the electrochemical behavior with only one single discharge plateau at 2.1 V in contrast with the traditional Li-S battery. Ex-situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirms that disulfide bonds cleave to form S-Li thiolate species upon discharge thereafter inhibiting the formation of polysulfide intermediates through molecular design.
