Abstract
This paper deals with the processes of purification of industrial gas emissions by means of scrubbers. A new design of contact device has been developed, which combines high performance in the gas phase, low hydraulic resistance and sufficient efficiency of heat and mass transfer. The paper includes an engineering method for calculating the proposed devices, which allows to determine the hydraulic resistance of dry and irrigated contact stages, as well as the mass transfer efficiency. The criterion equations have been obtained for determining the coefficient of heat transfer from the flowing down liquid film to the gas flow, taking into account the change in the liquid level inside of contact element. The root-mean-square deviation of the proposed equation is equal to 8% within the range of gas flow rates 0.5-2 m/s. The mass transfer coefficients in the gas phase have been determined on the basis of well-known Lewis analogy. The developed engineering method of calculation can be used for the design and modernization of industrial apparatuses with the jet-film contact devices.
