Abstract
The Turlough Hill Pumped Storage Scheme has been constructed in the Leinster Granite some 40 km south of Dublin. The upper reservoir has been partially excavated on the summit of Turlough Hill and water can be discharged through an inclined tunnel into the underground power station and to the lower reservoir of Lough Nahanagan. The geological conditions at the site are outlined with particular reference to the rock properties and the location of the underground works.
