Abstract

The community’s need for tourism has increased with the new culture, namely healing. This was caught quickly by tourism entrepreneurs to compete to build new tourist attractions. The river is one of the interesting objects for tourism. Besides the natural potential, the river can be developed as water tourism such as fishing and various water games. However, this potential is accompanied by the potential danger that can be caused by the river itself and its surroundings. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the engineering geology to ensure the capability of the river area to support tourism. The Cucukan River has tourism potential which has been used as an arena for fishing and regular water games. However, this river area is composed of loose material from clay-sand with water flows that often overflow at the peak of the rainy season. So it is necessary to conduct research related to the capability of engineering geology for tourism. The research was conducted by observation and mapping based on the principles of engineering geology, eight parameters of engineering geology capability consisting of: rock and soil bearing capacity, slope, geological disaster potential, ease of excavability, groundwater level, land use, rock weathering degree, and fracture density fields. The results showed that the engineering geology capability for tourism Cucukan River area is divided into three zones, namely: high capability zone, medium capability zone, and low capability zone.
