Abstract

This article provides with a thorough analysis of the problem of engineering education in Russia. Great attention is paid to standards of law as well as to the formalization of engineering education in legislative acts of the Russian Federation, and to global standard requirements to modern engineers. The dependence is noticed of the engineering educational system on the business environment of global market concerning production of goods and services. The involvement of Russia in various economic organizations and alliances as well as the consolidation of its leadership therein is considered in the context of the rate of intellectual labor. Attention was paid to the previous experience, to the traditions of Soviet universities and Soviet system of education of engineering specialists. This publication is not only based on the research of theoretical bases, it rests in many ways on sociological research by the author, especially in the area of professional orientation and motivation of students of technical courses. In the course of a critical consideration of the current engineering education model, the author points out separate weak spots of it and outlines some ways to overcome existing difficulties.
