Abstract

Description: Kinetic drawings, personal statements, and short answer items were analyzed using thematic coding (N1⁄41). Evaluation: At baseline, students viewed TD research as a multi-disciplinary, holistic approach to alleviating complex problems. TD teams were depicted as idealistically democratic, large and difficult to coordinate, and requiring a common language. Few students described TD activity that was integrated across levels of analysis. Conclusions and Implications: Students' baseline conceptualizations of TD can be used to understand development of TD scholarly orientation and identify targets for TD training.
