Abstract

• Undergraduate nursing curricula migrated from teaching research to a focus on evidence-based practice. • A model program, Honors in the Major-Nursing Nursing (HIM-N), was developed to enhance students’ foundational research knowledge. • The HIM-N research curriculum spanned over four semesters and focused on a predetermined nursing problem through dissemination learning the full research process. • The unique experience of engaging in a research cycle from beginning to end resulted in distinguishable professional development opportunities. • Faculty mentorship and student teamwork was pivotal to the success of the HIM-N program.
