Abstract
My lens is shaped, deeply, by the perspective of faith. As the former president of the Bonner Foundation, where between 1990 and 2010, I worked with Robert Hackett (the Foundation’s current president) to guide the creation of the Bonner Scholars and Leaders Program model, partnerships with more than 60 colleges and universities, and to carry out, as well, the wishes of Mr and Mrs Bonner. Being a preacher’s kid, no doubt, influenced this story. I met Mr and Mrs Bonner as a child through my father’s church. It was in that faith community where those relationships were established, but also where we trace the early vision, energy, and commitment to much of what is now the Bonner Program and to one of its six common commitments, spiritual exploration.
