Abstract

Nursing, profession specialized in caring for people, faces in these moments the fact of having to care for people from other cultures. Sometimes only negative aspects from them are perceived and often without even being conscious of such perception. Thus, the aim of this work is to motivate reflection and critical thought on the problem of working with stereotypes of others. Hope is placed on mutual respect based on previous knowledge.

Isabel Gentil García Diplomada en Enfermería, Doctora en Antropología Social y Cultural. U. Enfermería, Fisioterapia y Podología Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Enfermería, profesión especializada en los cuidados a personas, se enfrenta en estos momentos al hecho de tener que prestar cuidados a personas de otras culturas. A veces son percibidas sólo con aspectos negativos y muchas veces sin ser conscientes de dicha percepción. Por ello el objetivo de este trabajo es motivar la reflexión y el pensamiento crítico sobre el problema de funcionar con estereotipos frente a los otros. La esperanza está en el respeto mutuo pasando previamente por el conocimiento.
