Abstract

With a 180° uniform field magnetic spectrometer, the following values for nuclear reaction energies have been obtained: 10 B ( dp ) 11 B, Q = 9·227 MeV; 10 B ( dα ) 8 Be, Q = 17·829 MeV; 11 B ( dα ) 9 Be, Q = 8·029 MeV; 11 B ( dα ) 9 Be*, Q = 5·598 MeV; 12 C ( dp ) 13 C, Q = 2·720 MeV. From the 11 B ( dα ) 9 Be and 11 B ( dα ) 9 Be* reactions the energy of the first excited level in 9 Be has been found to be 2·431 ± 0·006 MeV. A comparison with other results of comparable accuracy is given.
