Abstract

The temperature dependences of regular and disturbed Ce 3+ site emission and decay kinetics were investigated in temperature range 4.2 – 300 K with the aim to determine the nature of the energy transfer mechanism in CeF 3. Mainly from the shape of the decay curves it is derived, that the radiative energy transfer is the dominant one in CeF 3 crystals. The observed shortening ot the regular Ce 3+ site emission lifetime is ascribed to its thermal quenching to the ground state.
