Abstract

SynopsisThe energy transfer in collisions of low velocity ions with CO molecules is theoretically investigated. Energy loss spectrum of ions scattered by CO molecules is obtained with using the classical trajectory (CT) calculation and the sudden-limit models. Both of the calculations well reproduce an experimental spectrum with a considerable accuracy. Rotational excitation is found to be principal energy transfer process from translational to internal motions.
