Energy systems and communication networks real-time simulation for controller hardware in the loop

Abstract

In this paper we describe the controller Hardware In the Loop (HIL) capability of our laboratories. To allow for testing of multimodal systems highly interconnected through information technology both the energy aspects as well as the communication aspects are emulated or simulated in real-time. To allow testing of algorithms with various computational needs and input output requirements several prototyping platforms are considered. The use of the described capability is demonstrated through three examples.
