Abstract

The propagation of a strong resonant light pulse with the duration comparable with the atomic lifetime in the medium composed of S1/2 - P1/2 atoms is simulated numerically. The behavior of the pulse area and energy during the propagation is investigated. The features of the scattered light are analyzed.
