Abstract

In the present work, a two-channel installation is used to simultaneously study the energy distributions of secondary ions and electrons emitted from a Ni single crystal target under 5 keV Ne + ion bombardment. The measurements were made with spherical analysers in each channel of the installation. The results obtained provide indirect evidence for the model which assumes that a sputtered or scattered atom is produced in its overexcited (auto-ionization) state.
