Abstract

The energy spectra of charged particles (protons, deuterons, tritons, and 3,4He nuclei) emitted following the absorption of stopped negative pions in a 0.022 g cm 2 thick target of calcium are measured from the experimental threshold energy at 2 MeV (for 3He nuclei: 8 MeV) up to the kinematical limit. The experiments are carried out at the pion channel πE3 of the Swiss Institute for Nuclear Research. The data are compared with existing measurements.
