Abstract

From the exact trajectories of charged particles in an ideal double hemispherical condenser the energy profile of a beam after passing the condenser is calculated in analytical and numerical form. Comparison is made between the results for double and single hemispherical condensers. The energy resolution (FWHM) is given for circular and rectangular apertures and compared with experimental results for a particular condenser.
