Abstract

It is shown that the linearized Landau-Lifshitz equation, around magnetic bubble structures in continuum planar ferromagnets, has the form of a Schrödinger-Pauli equation in an external magnetic field, with positive semi-definite energy spectrum. An index-theorem follows for the zero-energy perturbations and in the case of spherically symmetric bubbles, we find that all perturbations of positive energy are accompanied by radiation. The implications for the dynamics of magnetic bubbles are discussed.
