Abstract

We present normal mode analyses of energy flow and late time energy partitioning in 30-mode benzene. The highest-frequency out-of-plane E 1g and E 2u modes are second to the highest-frequency in-plane E 2g and E 1u modes in importance in redistributing energy from an initially excited E 1u CH stretching mode. At 9.6 ps, the distribution of vibrational energy lost from the bright state can be described by statistical models.
