Abstract

With the advent of smart grid, which exhibits the up and coming age of electrical power systems, residents have a chance to manage their energy expenditure. This paper presents Smart Homes Energy Management System (SHEMS) in order to support the grid and optimal operation of a smart home in terms of minimizing the total energy cost. Such kinds of home comprise of roof top PV, electric vehicle (EV), smart appliances and energy storage system (ESS). The EV battery can be charged during low demand period and stored power can be fed to home as well as grid during peak load hours. The energy exchanges are valued in view of net metering standards considering a dynamic pricing scheme. Finally, case studies are carrying out to validate the result.
