Abstract

We study the interaction of charged particles with a spheroidal conductor. Energy losses upon the excitation of polarization fields when a particle flies past the conducting spheroid are calculated within the simplest single-mode model of the dielectric function of the conductor. The results are compared to the limiting cases of a sphere and cylinder.
