Abstract

The energy loss for swift ions moving through a two-dimensional degenerate electron gas is calculated using the local-field correction dielectric function. The results show that in the low-velocity case, the exchange-correlation interaction of electrons in the electron gas can enhance obviously the values of the energy loss, especially for larger density parameter r s.
