Abstract

Using a time-of-flight spectrometer, neutron groups from the 40Ca( 3He, n) 42Ti reaction have been measured at 8.5, 9.0, 9.5 and 10.0 MeV bombarding energy. Groups were measured corresponding to 21 excited states in 42Ti. Close correspondence in excitation energy was observed between the low-lying states of 42Ti reported here and analogous states in 42Ca. Angular distributions and relative cross sections have been measured for the well resolved neutron groups. The data are adequately described by simple distorted wave double stripping calculations which include spin-orbit coupling in the exit channel.
