Abstract

An acoustic energy harvesting system has been proposed and investigated. The designed acoustic energy harvester comprises a grated rectangular metal slit with a metal screen and a piezoelectric component placed at the bottom of the screen. The strong acoustic field stimulates the metal screen as well as piezoelectric component mechanically converting the acoustic energy into electric energy. It is found that the grated harvester model with piezoelectric component is more efficient than a non grating structure. It is observed that the total output electric potential depends on the shape, size, material of the piezoelectric component as well as medium. The theoretical simulation has been carried out in order to obtain an appropriate elucidation for practical design of an efficient energy harvesting system through acoustic grating structure. The harvested energy can be utilized for powering low power electronic devices.
