Abstract

In our work, we have proposed Rendezvous Point Selection Scheme (RPSS), in which actor node is programmed to move specific locations in predefined sequence during its journey in the field. In this tour planning of actor node, we have schedulized rendezvous points by using genetic algorithm. In our scheme, rendezvous nodes are selected by using set covering problem to store the packets behalf of the network before forwarding to the actor at nearby rendezvous point. Our scheme increase energy efficiency by reducing number of hops for packet forwarding and deacrese latency by optimize the route length. We have also proposed novel Rendezvous Node rotation scheme to increase energy efficiency by reducing over utilization of nodes. We have evaluated the performance of proposed work by extensive simulations and shown that proposed scheme outperform Stationery Actor (SA) scheme in terms of energy efficiency, packet drops and the no.of dead nodes. We have also shown that RPSS scheme reduce path length significantly compared to Rendezvous Node Selection Scheme (RNSS).
