Abstract
This paper proposes an energy efficient generic pricing algorithm for dynamic spectrum management in soft real time, using a sealed bid auction with reserve price. A green payment is introduced to serve as an incentive to prioritise power efficient users, along with a Dynamic Spectrum Access based system to allow users gain access on short term basis to the unused spectrum. The paper examines the need for a reserve price and it shows how a reserve price is beneficial to both the wireless service provider (WSP) and the users. Results show how the level of the green payment can be used to control the amount of energy saved in a wireless system. They also highlight how discriminatory pricing along with the green payment is the appropriate way to help prioritise energy efficient users.
