Abstract

This paper discusses on maximization of energy efficiency (EE) of cooperative communication network. EE is the information rate that can be transmitted on a given bandwidth in a specific communication system achieved by normalizing the total power consumption. Two stages are examined for transmission of information through broadcast and retransmission. Multi-relay concept is used and the relay selection is done by opportunistic relay selection protocol which can be in distributed manner. This doesn't require global Channel State Information (CSI) at each relay or pivotal organizer in network, which reduce the burden in communication. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of the triple hop transmission using Amplify and Forward (AF) and Decode and Forward (DF). The results show that DF opportunistic has best performance compared to AF in triple hop transmission.
