Abstract

We investigate energy efficient resource allocation in a downlink energy harvesting cognitive radio (CR) network, where multiple secondary users (SUs) with energy harvesting capability are assumed to share multiple channels with the primary user (PU) under the transmit power constraint and the interference power constraint. Specifically, one channel is assumed to be allocated to only one SU for information transmission and the rest SUs can do energy harvesting on the channel. The problem of joint channel and power allocation to maximize the energy efficiency of the CR network is investigated, and an efficient iterative algorithm based on Dinkelbach method and convex optimization is proposed. It is shown that the proposed algorithm significantly improves the energy efficiency of the CR network compared to reference algorithms.
