Abstract

The Automobile Industry from its early days has been striving to reach perfection. In the sport segment especially, any automobile that has the capacity to go fast has been given special attention to make the designs more stable and to perform better. Aerodynamics has always been a major challenge for the automobile segment. Studies have shown that aerodynamic drag is a major concern for ground vehicles too. Mainly derogatory, the drag if reduced can make an automobile more efficient and perform better. Also, it may decrease vehicles fuel consumption that increases the energy efficiency. The Air Deflection System presented in this paper gives a solution to achieve better performance. It also assists in braking and cooling of the automobile's engine and brakes respectively. ADS comprises of two major electro - mechanical components: Vertical Dynamic Motor Controlled Fins (VDMC) and Channelized Intake Vents. The proposed VDMC's Fin position controls the incoming air. The dynamic nature of the fins assists in providing stability to the vehicle. The Channelized Intake Vents aid in providing efficient cooling for the brakes and the engine by diverting the stream of air.
