Abstract

A mathematical model is developed to evaluate the energy, economic and environmental performance of CO2 heat pump water heater system which compared with the coal and natural gas boiler heating systems in this paper. It is indicated from the analysis results that the CO2 heat pump heating system reduced the total costs about 120% compared with the coal boiler system, 26% compared with the natural gas boiler system. The amount of CO2 emission of coal boiler system is about 5.3 times as large as CO2 heat pump system, about 6.5 times as large as the natural gas boiler system. Replacing coal boiler heating system with CO2 heat pump system is economically and environmentally feasible in China where natural gas resources are not rich.
